As part of the build up to last week’s Committee Summit, throughout February we’ve been showcasing some of the fantastic work achieved by BIA’s eight Advisory Committees on the blog. Here we provide a brief round-up from the day itself – details of each Committee Chair’s presentation can be viewed in full here.
With over a third of BIA member companies (124 of our 313 members) represented on one of our Advisory Committees, they are crucial mechanisms for highlighting the most relevant issues facing bioscience companies and ensuring that member needs are met. Joining a BIA Advisory Committee is one way you can help shape the future and ensure the success of the sector.
Last Thursday’s Committee Summit built upon the success of the inaugural event last year, where our eight committees gathered together for the first time. The focal point of the day, the lunchtime plenary session, featured an update from each Committee Chair on their 2015 achievements and 2016 priorities.
The work delivered by our eight committees contributes towards BIA advocacy work across a number of issues. In the past year, committee members have contributed to industry reports, developed briefing papers for BIA members on areas such as the Patent Box and the Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court, delivered excellent conference programmes for both bioProcessUK and our joint event with the MHRA and inputted to a number of consultations at both a UK and a European level.
